Overview
The manual handling award is a stand alone qualification aimed at those who carry out manual handling activities at work. The qualification can be tailored to the specific business and individual's needs to make the learning experience relevant and fit for purpose.
Outline programme
The course covers the following topics:
- Problems caused by incorrect handling
methods - Legislation and the duties imposed by the
regulations - Risk Assessment
- Good lifting techniques
- TILE - the Task, the Individual, the Load and the Environment - T.I.L.E.
Successful completion will enable students to look carefully at their own manual handling activities and play their part in making the workplace safer for all, in co-operation with their managers and supervisors.
